Chris is a leader in the field of techno-economic modeling for tough-tech innovations. He has developed models for over 100 technologies, built a library of specialized software tools, and authored the first comprehensive treatment of the subject: Techno-Economic Modeling for Chemical and Bioprocess Innovations. Prior to founding Burk TechnoEconomics in 2016, Chris spent 12 years in industries including pilot plant EPC, SBIR funded research, and cleantech startups. Chris is a Licensed Professional Engineer and holds BS and MEng degrees from Cornell University.  LinkedIn​

Phil joined Burk TechnoEconomics as a partner in 2023. Phil’s industry experience spans the early-stage technology development cycle. He has been VP of Engineering at a clean chemistry startup, managed procurement and construction of ‘largest-to-date’ systems in renewable energy and water treatment, and served on the leadership team of a startup during its acquisition by a publicly traded corporation. Phil is also a Licensed Professional Engineer and holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Yale University.  LinkedIn

Beccah worked with Chris and Phil at a tough-tech startup in Boulder Colorado. She then went on to be the tenth employee at a water technology startup, Frontier Water Systems, and eventually their VP of Product Management before the company was acquired by the multinational water company Evoqua (now Xylem). Beccah brings invaluable practical experience from the pilot-scale through commercialization and beyond. She holds a BS in Chemical and Biological Engineering from University of Colorado Boulder.   LinkedIn

Jake joined Burk TechnoEconomics from Redwood Materials, a leading battery-recycling and materials-recovery company. Earlier in his career, he worked with Beccah at Frontier Water Systems as a field engineer for their biological water-treatment systems, supporting activities ranging from pilot tests to plant commissioning and operations. He earned both his BS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah, where his research focused on modeling and decarbonizing energy-intensive industrial processes.   LinkedIn
